Optimizing metal powder handling

During Additive Manufacturing (AM) processes there are numerous, different powder handling tasks to be accomplished, whether the powder is plastic or metal. For various reasons, however, metal powders represent a greater challenge in the additive manufacturing handling processes. Supplying metal powders to 3D printers, recovering unbound material and then classifying and recovering (recycling) all, must be addressed to keep production running smoothly and to make best use of these expensive materials.

By combining the process steps of vacuum conveying, vibration metering and ultrasonic screening, the Volkmann PowTReX provides a compact platform to solve all these demanding tasks. When connected with the correct container and in using appropriate container handling, a safe, closed solids cycle results. (Inert processing is also possible.) In so doing, not only stainless steel powder, but also aluminum and other metal powder dusts can be safely handled.
